Meet the Author: Merritt
Johnston
As a senior in high
school, Merritt felt God calling her into full-time ministry. Two years later
God revealed the specifics of that calling: to encourage and equip this generation
to go beyond being "good" girls and to strive to be "godly" girls.
While attending
the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, Merritt discovered the true power
of "iron sharpening iron" through the godly encouragement of
a circle of friends. Her walk with God flourished, and she realized that
God was calling her to something more. With a vision to reach girls for
Christ, Merritt joined together with a team of friends to form SAGE
Ministries.
For the past ten years, Merritt has been traveling with SAGE across the
United States leading conferences designed specifically for middle school
and high school girls.
Throughout that time, God has continued to expand Merritt’s passion
for women of all ages. When Merritt is not traveling with SAGE, she has
served on staff at several churches, including four years as the Director
of Women’s Ministries at Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall. She currently
enjoys serving alongside her husband, Jeremy, at House of Worship in Brenham,
TX.
Through her work with Lake Pointe and with SAGE, Merritt has also been
blessed to serve on the mission field. In January 2006, she facilitated
a women’s conference in Chelny, Russia, focused on the concept of
Titus 2 discipleship, and in the summer of 2006 she helped lead Germany’s
first international girls’ conference in the city of Cologne.
In addition to speaking, Merritt also loves to communicate the love of
Christ through writing. Her work has been featured in publications like
Leading Student Ministry magazine, and she has self-published
two Bible studies in a series entitled Godly Girl Revolution.
Through it all, Merritt enjoys the love and support of her husband, Jeremy.
The college sweethearts tied the knot on May 27, 2000, and are currently
raising an amazing son named Josiah and two renegade dachshunds named
Aidan and Adelaide.
